"The Andalusian company Kampaoh, an example of public-private collaboration between the Regional Government and the management company Alter Capital Desarrollo"
Private Equity Investment Doubles the Growth of Supported Companies
Private capital investment in companies makes their growth "double" that of their competitors. .
This was highlighted during the visit by the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, and Ángel González, Founding Partner of Alter Capital Desarrollo, to the facilities of Kampaoh —a professional camping operator, fully Andalusian, headquartered in Seville with a manufacturing site in Bollullos de la Mitación.
Kampaoh is a success story financed by the Regional Government of Andalusia through one of the three venture capital funds managed between 2021 and 2023, Buna. This instrument allows the regional administration to grant loans to companies in areas where traditional banking does not reach.
"One of our goals is to create an ecosystem that attracts investment and companies. We are seeing very powerful business projects, which are generating employment and wealth and which we have been able to help," said Carolina España, who highlighted the "importance of public-private collaboration to make Andalusia grow."
Kampaoh Operates in Four Countries and Is a Beneficiary of the Fund Managed by Alter Capital
This company, which operates with 80 campsites in Spain, but also in France, Portugal and Italy, with a park of 3,350 operational stores, is one of the beneficiaries of the venture capital funds for the expansion of 'Alter Capital Development', the only operational manager with headquarters and equipment in Andalusia, which has invested 15 million euros, together with the Junta de Andalucía, in seven small and medium-sized Andalusian companies.
In the case of Kampaoh, the participative loan amounted to €2.3 million, of which €1.5 million came from the Regional Government’s venture capital resources. This financing enabled the company to scale from a core team of 67 employees (during winter 2023) to 603 during the last summer season (July 2023 figures). The company expects to exceed 900 employees in the upcoming campaign.
“Economic support is essential to develop and seize the opportunity that both Kampaoh and Andalusia have with a project like ours, which is transforming the tourism industry—particularly the hotel and camping segments,” explained Salvador Lora, CEO and founder of Kampaoh.
Public and Private Capital Mobilize Greater Investment and Accelerate Growth
Ángel González, founding partner of Alter Capital Desarrollo, has recognized that "investing 15 million euros, five of them private and ten million from the IDEA agency, it has been possible to attract a total of 33 million euros to these companies, multiplying public money".
Along the same lines, González stressed that “companies backed or invested in by private equity grow at a rate that doubles that of their competitors.”
